The Wild

Another week gone by already - how is it possible? Today has been a relaxing and accomplished day, which is great. Swimming lessons for the boys - check, rock climbing for the oldest - check, a nap (although brief) for the littlest and the hubby - check, and a quick card for me - check!

Here is my card for the SCS Inspiration Challenge. Since I don't have an animal print stamp or any interesting animal print paper, I decided to create my own with a marker.

The shading was done by dragging a sponge. First I used Going Gray ink for the entire card. Then I used black, which actually turned out looking gray. I finished the card with another piece of lovely velvet ribbon and the sentiment from a retired stamp set in my stash.

Enjoy,

Sweet Pink Rose

I took a little break tonight for a quick card for the Curtain Call Color Challenge. It was so handy to have stamp sets that coordinated perfectly with the design inspiration for this challenge.

For the large rose, I stamped the rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral set five times, rough cut each layer, inked the edges with Pretty in Pink ink and then crumpled them up and layered them with a pearl in the middle. The final accent was a beautiful piece of velvet ribbon I picked up earlier this week. Instead of making a bow, I tied a knot (like tying shoes), then clipped the ribbon tails straight. To make it look like a bow, I folded each tail under with a glue dot. So easy.

Enjoy,
